The e-Tourist Visa
The most convenient choice is the e-Tourist Visa (e-TV). You can apply for this online from the comfort of your home—no need to visit an embassy or mail your passport.
When to Apply: You can apply anywhere between 120 days and 4 days before your flight. We recommend doing this about 3–4 weeks in advance to give you total peace of mind.
How Long It Lasts: You can choose a 30-day, 1-year, or even a 5-year multi-entry visa. For UK citizens, the 1-year and 5-year options allow stays of up to 180 days per visit.

What You Will Need
To complete your application, have these ready:
Passport: Your British passport must be valid for at least 6 months from your date of arrival in India and have at least two blank pages.
Digital Photo: A recent, passport-style colour photo (white background) in a digital format.
Passport Scan: A clear scan of your passport’s bio-data page (the one with your photo and details).
Fee: The cost varies by visa length (roughly £20–£65). You can pay this securely online during the application.
Important Reminder
Print Your Visa: Once approved, you will receive an "Electronic Travel Authorisation" (ETA) via email. Please print a physical copy to show at the airport and at immigration - a digital version on your phone is often not enough.
